At many public universities, EU students pay just a few hundred euros a year for standard licence and master’s programmes. The CVEC contribution and living expenses may come on top of this. Different rules apply to some non-EU applicants, business schools and programmes with their own fee structures. Higher education in France is therefore not universally free, although studying at a public university can be very affordable.
